Generally, 7x50's are the most recommended for general astronomical use. Some people prefer 10x50's although they require steady hands for long observations. Larger binoculars in the 80mm range are an excellent choice for astronomical viewing. Due to their weight, these units will require a tripod adapter bracket and tripod to provide a steady image.
