With the increase in business complexity, the logistics systems were extensive and capillary, meeting new demands that the former managers could not even imagine would exist. About waste logistics systems, the situation is the same.

In the past, after production, consumption and generation of waste occurred, which were discarded in conventional places. However, with increasing competitiveness and pressure for economies of scale, the need to do more about the issue of waste logistics has come to the fore.

Nowadays, from the process of obtaining the raw material to the final disposal of the waste, everything must be monitored and optimized to minimize the environmental impact as well as the costs for companies that battle point to point by market positions.

Why Bother With Waste Logistics System?

Years ago, waste logistics consisted primarily in transporting leftovers from production and consumption to familiar sites, usually landfills, and also to the old dumps.

There was recycling of more basic materials, such as aluminum, iron, and paper. However, the technology for reuse of less conventional materials was still, and there was also a widespread concern with the environment as it is today.

Once the times have changed, new technologies have emerged, and now some industries waste are widely used as part of the productive process of others, in addition to the expansion of recycling capacity, the landfills are gradually being replaced by places more suitable for the destination of each type of waste.

In this context, some companies stand out, others are left behind, which should be for them, cause for concern, since they may be losing some kind of competitive advantage by not improving waste disposal and not using new cheaper materials in their processes.
